Q. How many CalMag Thins Tablets do I need to take each day?

That depends. Each tablet contains 200 mg of calcium. The total daily amount of calcium recommended for adults includes calcium from food as well as from supplements. Total calcium needs for adults range from 1000-1200 mg per day, depending on age and gender.

If you eat enough food that is high in calcium, it is possible to meet your daily calcium needs from your diet alone. Most people do not get enough calcium from food and need to add a calcium supplement.

Q. Are there any side effects from CalMag Thins?

No. There are no expected side effects from CalMag Thins. Calcium supplements may cause constipation in some individuals. However, the magnesium in CalMag Thins should help balance this and decrease the risk of constipation.

Q. How long should I take CalMag Thins?

CalMag Thins are meant for daily, long-term use, to supplement the calcium that you already get from food.

Q. I have difficulty swallowing larger pills. Is CalMag Thins for me?

Yes. CalMag Thins are thin, easy-to-swallow tablets.

Q. Can CalMag Thins be taken with other nutritional supplements?

Yes. CalMag Thins can be taken along with most other nutritional supplements. They should be taken along with a supplement containing vitamin D. CalMag Thins contain no vitamin D because they were designed to go along with other Theralogix products that already contain enough vitamin D, like Essentia, Solo, TheraNatal, or Thera-D.

Q. Do CalMag Thins interact with any prescription medications?

Yes, as with any dietary supplement, it is recommended you discuss with your pharmacist and or healthcare team to clarify whether CalMag Thins can be taken along with your medications.

CalMag Thins may affect the absorption of certain prescription medications.

Antibiotics: Certain nutrients such as calcium can bind to antibiotics in the stomach and reduce their absorption and effectiveness. Depending on the antibiotic prescribed, you may need to separate taking any calcium containing supplements from antibiotics by at least 2 to possibly 6 hours or discontinue your dietary supplement while taking the antibiotic.

• o Penicillamine (Cuprimine, Depen) – Separate by 2 hours
• o Cephalexin (Keflex) – Take Prosteon 3 hours or more after taking this antibiotic
• o Tetracycline antibiotics (doxycycline, minocycline, demeclocycline)- Separate by 4 hours
• o Ciprofloxacin (Cipro), gemifloxacin (Factive), levofloxacin (Levaquin), Moxifloxacin (Avelox) – Separate by 6 hours

Captopril – This medication helps control blood pressure. Magnesium in CalMag Thins can affect absorption of this antihypertensive medication. Separate by 2 hours.

Digoxin (Lanoxin) – This medication helps the heart beat more strongly. Taking magnesium which is in CalMag Thins at the same time as this medication may decrease the absorption of this medication therefore decreasing the effectiveness. Separate by 2 hours.

Dilantin (phenytoin) – This medication is an anti-epileptic drug used to control seizures. Calcium and magnesium in CalMag Thins can affect absorption of this antiepileptic medication. Separate by 2 hours.

Oral Bisphosphonates (i.e., alendronate (Fosamax), etidronate (Didronel), risedronate (Actonel), ibandronate (Boniva), tiludronate (Skelid)) – These medications alter bone formation and breakdown in the body, slowing down bone loss and helping to prevent bone fractures. Taking magnesium and calcium along these medications can decrease how much bisphosphate the body absorbs. Separate by 2 hours.

Sotalol (Betapace)– This medication helps the heartbeat normally in people with certain heart rhythm disorders. Calcium and magnesium in CalMag Thins can affect absorption of this antiarrhythmic medication. Separate by at least 2 hours.

Thyroid hormone (levothyroxine, Synthroid) – This medication is used to treat an underactive thyroid gland. Calcium in CalMag Thins can reduce absorption of these thyroid hormone medications. Separate by at least 4 hours.
