ConceptionXR® Motility Support Formula

Q. What is the difference between ConceptionXR Reproductive Health Formula and Motility Support Formula?

ConceptionXR Reproductive Health Formula provides a base formula of high-dose antioxidants (vitamins C, E, and selenium), methylated folate and other nutrients designed to promote sperm structure and function in 2 tablets a day.* In total men will take 2 tablets a day.

ConceptionXR Motility Support Formula provides the same base formula as Reproductive Health in 2 tablets, with additional vitamin D and L-carnitine in two capsules a day to support healthy sperm motility.* Sperm motility (the ability of the sperm to swim) is especially important for men trying to father a pregnancy through natural conception or IUI. In total men will take 2 tablets and 2 capsules every day.

Do not take both ConceptionXR products. Take ONE ConceptionXR product or the other. Taking both products together would provide a higher dose of nutrients than is recommended.

Q. Who is likely to benefit from ConceptionXR Motility Support Formula?

Men who are trying to promote healthy sperm structure and function may benefit from Conception XR Motility Support Formula. The additional nutrients to promote sperm motility may be especially important when trying to father a pregnancy through natural conception of intrauterine insemination (IUI).* Men with normal sperm motility may want to consider ConceptionXR Reproductive Health Formula.

Q. How long should I take ConceptionXR Motility Support Formula?

ConceptionXR Motility Support Formula should be taken for at least three months because it takes that long for sperm to be produced. It should be continued until pregnancy is achieved, or as recommended by your healthcare provider.


Q. Are there side effects from ConceptionXR Motility Support Formula?

No. There are no expected side effects from ConceptionXR Motility Support Formula.

Q. Is there anyone who should not take ConceptionXR Motility Support Formula?

Yes. Men who have an existing seizure disorder should use ConceptionXR Motility Support Formula only under medical advisement and supervision. Increased frequency and/or severity of seizures has been reported in people with pre-existing seizure disorders who take L-carnitine or folate, ingredients found in ConceptionXR Motility Support Formula.

Q. Can I take other nutritional supplements with ConceptionXR Motility Support Formula?

Yes. If you are currently taking a low-dose multivitamin and mineral supplement, you can continue to take this in addition to ConceptionXR Motility Support Formula. However, taking additional high amounts of nutrients that are contained in ConceptionXR Motility Support Formula is generally not recommended.

Q. Does ConceptionXR Motility Support interact with any prescription medications?

As with any dietary supplement, it is recommended you discuss with your pharmacist and or health care team to clarify whether ConceptionXR Motility Support can be taken along with your medications.

Do not take ConceptionXR Motility Support Formula if you are taking:

Medications to control seizures (phenobarbital, Dilantin®, or others): The nutrients L-carnitine and high-dose folate which are found in ConceptionXR Motility Support can interact with these medications and possibly worsen seizures. Only use ConceptionXR Motility Support Formula under the close supervision of a physician.

Medications that are changed by the liver Cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP34) substrates - CYP34 are important enzymes in your body, mainly found in the liver to break down medications in the body. Vitamin D may increase how quickly the liver breaks down some medications. Taking ConceptionXR Motility Support, which contains 50 mcg (2,000 IU) vitamin D, along with some medications may decrease the effectiveness of some medications. Before taking ConceptionXR Motility Support, talk to your health care provider.

ConceptionXR Motility Support Formula may also affect the absorption of certain prescription as follows:

Antibiotics: Zinc (in ConceptionXR Motility Support) can bind to antibiotics in the stomach and reduce their absorption and effectiveness. Depending on the antibiotic prescribed, you may need to separate taking any multivitamins from antibiotics by at least 2 to possibly 6 hours or discontinue taking a supplement while taking the antibiotic. Please discuss with your pharmacist and health care team to determine if you should stop taking ConceptionXR Motility Support for a short period of time.

• • Penicillamine (Cuprimine, Depen) – Separate by 2 hours
• • Cephalexin (Keflex) – Separate by a minimum of 3 hours
• • Tetracycline antibiotics (doxycycline, minocycline, demeclocycline)- Separate by 4 hours
• • Ciprofloxacin (Cipro), gemifloxacin (Factive), levofloxacin (Levaquin), Moxifloxacin (Avelox) – Separate by 6 hours

Cholesterol medications: Choselstyramine (Questran), Colestipol (Cholestid) Atorvastatin (Lipitor) and lovastatin (Mevacor) – These medications help control cholesterol levels in the body. Taking them along with vitamin D (ConceptionXR Motility Support contains 50 mcg (2,000 IU)) may decrease the amount of medication absorbed by the body. Separate by a minimum of 4 hours.

Digoxin (Lanoxin)– This medication helps the heart beat more strongly. Taking vitamin D (in ConceptionXR Motility Support) at the same time as this medication may increase the effectiveness of this medication. Separate by 2 hours.

Thiazide diuretics (aka: water pills) – These medications are used to treat high blood pressure, congestive heart failure as well as the accumulation of fluid and swelling (edema) in the body. These medications also increase the amount of calcium in the body. Vitamin D helps your body absorb calcium. Taking ConceptionXR Motility Support, which contains 50 mcg (2,000 IU) vitamin D, along with these medications may cause too much calcium in the body.

Thyroid hormone (levothyroxine, Synthroid) - This medication is used to treat an underactive thyroid gland. L-carnitine (in ConceptionXR Motility Support) might decrease the effectiveness of thyroid hormone medications.

Warfarin (coumadin) - L-carnitine (in ConceptionXR Motility Support) might increase the effects of warfarin and increase the chances of bruising and bleeding. Be sure to have your blood checked regularly. The dose of your warfarin (coumadin) might need to be changed.
